Our last night in Hamburg we spent walking and visiting with family from Schwerin. They drove the hour and 1/2 to see us Wed. at 4 and we were really happy to see them again. G got to meet some new members of his clan and we were sad to see them go.
The next morning we took our train to Leipzig. We have a month-long train travel card with reserved seating so we made it to our next place in comfort. We are in a 27 floor hotel and because we always reserve our rooms with Expedia or some sort of email system, we always get the email rooms set aside for those customers. So we are on the 13th floor. No such superstitions here about 13. Our spa here is also 4 floors high and of course, a Finnish spa again. What happens in Europe, stays in Europe.
The town of Leipzig is beautiful. It is the birthplace of Bach where he was a young cantor for the church St. Thomas, a Lutheran church where Martin Luther preached and where Bach is now buried. There is a circular area in the old part of the city where hundreds of cafes, restaurants and stores are. Today, G's 4th cousin, Alexander, took the train from Dresden to visit with us for the day and so we walked and visited the cafes for 5 hours. Again, we were heart-felt to have met him and think that he is a wonderful young man with a great heart.
