The best zoo we've ever been to. As a rule, we are not huge supporters of how zoos keep animals in cages just for we - other animals, to view for enjoyment. But this zoo was incredible.
They have enormous and intricate settings for groupings of animals that can co-habitate. They spend a lot of time ensuring that the animals are comfortable and happy enough so that they promote breeding. We saw that one tiger dad was set apart from his mate and two cubs until the babies were strong enough to deal with him yet both still had a huge compound.
We could remain in the shade for the entire day and everyone was led into one direction without confusion as to where to go next. It was very user friendly with huge playgrounds for the children and eating stations at five different locations throughout the park.
They had times set up for when they were going to feed each set of animals so that you could make sure you were there, so we watched two lions chow down on a huge pile of ribs.
Because the animals were so comfortable, they weren't driven into their enclosures for coolness or sleep and so they were always out to see. The best part and the funniest was that in the chimpanzees home this huge male kept running around and copulating with all the females who were only too happy to assist him. The crowd of people were so enjoying this process, especially the children and men (and me of course). Here in Europe the process of life is so much more relaxed and accepted which makes the watching of something like this event totally enjoyable.
It was probably the best 17€ we've ever spent and wished that we had had some children to take through so that I could have played in the playgrounds.
