Capri, Anicapri Sep. 10

After viewing the mount and Pompeii, we headed to the Naples port to catch the 45 min hydrofoil ferry to the small island of Capri. Just before this our tour guide told us that she needed 10 volunteers to accept staying at another hotel than the 4-star one set up for our group. Seems they overbooked us. Like G says - we are like mushrooms, kept in the dark and fed shit. So G and I volunteered - good 'ole Cdns. Good for us too cuz our little hotel was up the shopping walkway and in a quieter area. Oh, I forgot to tell you, like mushrooms, we were never told that we weren't staying in Capri but , you guessed it, right uuuuuppppp the blasted mountain on a set of switchbacks that even G wondered how people managed. The town was called Anacapri and was a smaller more quaint and adorable set-in-the mtn picturesque place. All roads were only one car width and had cross walks that went nowhere. The homes sprouted out of the sides of the mountains and hung there like Lego. At the port, we were shuffled (more like marmaladed, you know, jammed) into two small buses and then we noisily, swerving into little safe spots on the sides of the mtn, made our way up.
We stayed for 3 days and spent oodles of time walking over the cobbles, took a chair lift up the mtn side to view the island and ocean, visited museums and shopped. Lots of lemons growing, lots of vineyards and sooo many flowers. Not quite as stark white as Greece but beautiful.
